[1.] One line summary of the problem:

     Linux 2.4.19 + AVM B1 =3D crash

[2.] Full description of the problem/report:

Two different machines, with two different AVM B1 cards crash
when the relevant drivers are loaded and the card used (or not).

One machine, quorn, is a generic mid-tower Intel machine mainly
used as a masquerading router / print server / fax server / proxy
/ ... Light load, it is deserving a total of 2 machines, used by
only one user. When the b1 drivers are loaded, and used for
faxing with (capi4)hylafax, the machine crashed within 12 to 16
hours. Doesn't seem to be related to actual Hylafax activity. The
     AVM B1 card is a PCIv4.

The other machine, linzen, is an IBM Thinkpad T21 laptop. When
the b1 drivers are loaded, and used for IP network connectivity,
the machine crashes within a few minutes. The AVM B1 card is a
     PCMCIA one.

Qorn now has an uptime of one week with a 2.2 kernel, and the b1
drivers loaded and in use by (capi4)hylafax.

linzen goes well, with uptimes up to several days, as long as the
b1 drivers (and the whole isdn / capi shebang) are not loaded.

Crash is total. Machine doesn't answer to pings anymore, magic
SysRq key has no effect, and the software watchdog doesn't
initiate a reboot. Screen is blank.

[3.] Keywords (i.e., modules, networking, kernel):

     isdn, capi, avmb1

[4.] Kernel version (from /proc/version):

     2.4.19 (gcc version 2.95.4 20011002 (Debian prerelease))

[5.] Output of Oops.. message (if applicable) with symbolic information=
=20
     resolved (see Documentation/oops-tracing.txt)

     None.

[6.] A small shell script or example program which triggers the
     problem (if possible)

     On linzen:
     pppd call isdn/ptlu
browse the web, ssh to other machines, ...

     /etc/ppp/peers/isdn/ptlu contains:
     sync
     noauth
     user XXXXXXX
     plugin userpass.so
     password XXXXXXXXXx
     defaultroute
     plugin capiplugin.so
     number 90070708
     protocol hdlc
     ipcp-accept-local
     ipcp-accept-remote
     multilink
     mrru 1500
     # endpoint need to be changed
     #endpoint magic:4711
     /dev/null
     usepeerdns

     On quorn:

     start-stop-daemon --start --exec /usr/sbin/faxq
     start-stop-daemon --start --exec /usr/sbin/hfaxd -- -i 4559 -o 455=
7 -s 444
     /usr/sbin/capiinit start
     start-stop-daemon --start --quiet --background --make-pidfile --pi=
dfile /var/run/c2faxrecv.pid \
                        --exec /usr/bin/c2faxrecv

     And wait...
