Impressions of 4.1beta1 from rawhide

Hi,
  I have been running the 4.1 beta1 packages from rawhide for the 
last 2 days and am generally very happy with it. For my use, the 
packages are at least as good as the 4.0.x packages from stable 
Fedora 9 on x86_64. The command I needed to install the packages 
is:
  yum install 'kde*' soprano --enablerepo=rawhide
Even though the new nepomuk requires the new soprano from rawhide, 
it is not pulled in automatically; this indicates a missing 
'Requires:' in some spec file.
  Plasma seems to have had a few regressions:
1. The list of plasmoids in the 'Add widgets' dialog does not 
include 'Icon' even though I am using extragear-plasma-4.0.80-2 
whose changelog indicates that the icon scriptlet was included. I 
am working around it by manually modifying plasma-appletsrc.
2. Adding the system tray to the panel causes Plasma to crash on 
exit (even with nothing in the system tray). This is a big problem 
since it makes klipper useless.
3. Icon spacing on the panel is messed up; it icons have too much 
space around them (compared to 4.0.x).
4. Moving plasmoids on the panel does not seem to be supported 
though I vaguely recall Kevin saying that such a patch is included 
in the F9 build; perhaps it was only for 4.0.x?
  The good is that the comic book plasmoid is functional once 
again, plasmoids can be resized more flexibly, the digital clock 
finally shows the date without layout issues and that compositing 
using Xrender is much improved; OpenGL is not an option for due to 
lack of driver support (ATI/AMD R482 with open source  radeon 
drivers).
  KWin also seems to have a few regressions:
1. I don't recall whether 4.0.x had an option to set the number of 
virtual desktops, but 4.1beta1 does not. Again, I am working around 
it by manually modifying kwinrc.
2. Any new keybindings (Win+Down for next desktop down) does not 
seem to take effect. Upon restart, the keybindings revert to the 
original ones and all customization is lost.
3. I could not get self-compiled emacs-cvs (with Xft) to work 
properly with KWin. If compositing is turned off, X takes 100% of 
the CPU when emacs is started. With compositing on, the emacs 
window can be shown only with 50% opacity or lower. With higher 
opacity (even 100%), the emacs window ('frame' in emacs-speak) 
exists and its outline can be seen in the pager, but cannot be 
seen; however, I do see tooltips, right click menus, etc. by 
blindly hovering and/or clicked at the right spots. This problem 
does not occur with other GTK applications.
  The new Kontact is nice. I have been using it heavily with 
disconnected IMAP and it has been working very well, actually even 
better than 3.5.x in terms of speed. The only regression I can 
notice is that it does not seem to fetch the passwords from KWallet 
when sending messages, but for receiving messages, it works fine. I 
have not looked at the rest of the PIM applications.
  If dolphin or dolphinpart seems to crash on start, please ensure 
that you have the latest version of soprano installed.
