curious error on exiting Kate

Whenever I end a Kate session I get a curious error dialog in a small window after Kate has closed which states: KDEinit could not launch '/usr/bin/kate/' It happens after the program has successfully launched, been used, and has been closed -- it happens each and every time I run it. I've found a few google references to it, but none seem germane, including one bug report.
