How to monitor keeplaived syslog messages

Hi,

In addition to parsing and updating the Keepalived configuration file from
our router application, we also need to monitor the Keepalived syslog
messages, in order to detect and report the real status in our application.

I guess we are not the first developers to do that...

1) Is there any well known method to monitor those Keepalived log messages?
2) Is there another preferred way to monitor Keepalived, rather than
parsing the syslog messages ?
