That is interesting.  Did you test on a AMD64 box (I run a Ferrari 
4005)?  I had significant problems getting DriverLoader to work on 
Ubuntu 6.10 w/AMD64.  In fact even after patching driver loader (which 
caused it to work) I was unable to maintain a connection until I 
upgraded my kernel to 2.6.18 which has solved all the problems I was having.

Yes NetworkManager is wonderful, I use it all the time.  Couldn't live 
without it now. :-)
