Re: WPA associates with router, but no dhcp response

Hi,

you should take a look at the output of 'ifconfig' to see if the number 
of sent and receive packets do increase or not. The RT61 chipset is not 
officially supported and is known to not work in all cases. When it 
doesn't work, the source of the problem is generally that you can't 
receive and/or send packets with the wireless interface.

You should also try to connect to an access point without any kind of 
encryption just to test if the problem is related or not to WPA. You 
could ask your landlord to disable the encryption just a few minutes to 
test that.

Finally, please check your firewall settings, an improperly configured 
firewall can block everything, including DHCP messages. You could also 
use a network analyzer tool such as Ethereal do detect if you are 
actually able to receive packets or not.
