Dave Miller proposed using netlink, but no one picked-it up and moved it
forward, so that's possibly the reason for it moving to pri2.  Finally,
after debating it a bit, we decided to have Jim propose an API, and thus
the patch. 

Andrew Morton listed is as "async to 2.6", so if there's
still a chance it will make 2.6, great.  If it gets discussed at the pre-OLS
Kernel Summit as a 2.7 feature, and at the OLS RAS BOFF, that's great too.

There is a new common buffering scheme for the kernel called relayfs, that's
being posted to LKML next week, which evlog could eventually use.  Watch for
it.  Its also a paper at OLS.  One of us will try and remember to post a link
to the LKML posting here.

Strictly speaking, 1003.25 applies to application event logging, and we have
no plans to change the evlog interfaces in user-space so that they are non-
compliant.
