[evlog-dev] why shared library is not used?

Why the EVLOG programs are all linked with the static libevl.a library
instead of the shared one? Linking it with the static lib makes EVLOG
huge.. especially comparing it with the syslog. I've downloaded the
latest version of evlog library (1.6.1) and build it using the default
settings.
