Linux move to remove unused Kernel symbols effects LiS

There is an effort underway within the Linux kernel community to remove "unused" exports from the kernel.  They have created a list of these symbols at: http://people.redhat.com/arjanv/unused 

We have done a scan of LiS and found hits against this list. Has anyone heard of this effort? It looks like a 2.6 kernel effort only for now.
