upgrade

After my last experiences with upgrade it has been polished a little.
Some features have been removed, a few bugfixes e.t.c.

The current code is in maint and can/should be tested. Unfortunately it
takes the latest busybox cpio to handle initrd/initmod formats
correctly. So it is only working on very recent systems. The only
platform I can test is on an ALIX with two ath9k and a WRAP with ath5k
cards.

I can also test on WRAP with a broadcom b43 card which needs additional
firmware, but this firmware is missing on the firmware tarball. I also
have a legacy intel bg2200 which I could test against, but its firmware
appears to be missing too.

It works for me, but I only tested on a grub bootloader, so it requires
some more testing in the syslinux environment, on CD of course it is
pointless.
