OK the NIC on that board needs firmware, what a drag.

Actually there is a small firmware war raging right now behind the 
scenes on about how to handle firmware on LEAF.

So fortunately it probably does not depend much on your release, have a 
look at

You will need to place the files in /lib/firmware on your box, which is 
not obvious. As you don't have connectivity one of the easiest methods 
is to write the file(s) to your USB stick and then copy them to a 
directory /lib/firmware/rtl_nic on your system. Do not forget to save 
your configuraion so the firmware gets written to configdb :-)
