So you are building a ssh tunnel to your external address then probably 
avoiding shorewall (as the tunneled traffic probably takes the lo 
interface) to access the inner interface with on port 80.

- Have you tried to connect directly to box without the ssh tunnel?
- Is port forwarding enabled on sshd.conf?

- Can you access the ssh server from the outside?
