I did this a few years back on an ALIX and even on WRAPS this is 
possible if you include the drivers.

But the to really make it useful you should probably trigger it from 
somewhere, for example when init finishes or as soon as the serial 
output is initialized or maybe when the WiFi board is initialized or 
when data is sent/received.
