I have seen that, I would guess this is some filter issue with your uplink mail server. I get your point, I also understand that probably a majority of the users can live with what they got. I just don't like software that does not perform or perfoms marginally. I just would like to see this issue addressed and not just patched by another piece of software which might just as well fail. > > This is what i'm attempting to send to the list: > > I'm using 2.80 to provide DNS to a mail and SPAM filter, and I haven't > seen any of this behavior. My gut feeling is just that dnsmasq has become bloatware and uses lots of resources. You may not feel it on a sufficienly big machine. To tell the truth I would be OK with dnsmasq just telling me 'No sir, you don't have enough memory for me, I refuse to run' > > Should we compare configurations to see if there is some common setting > that might contribute to this issue? My configuration(s) are using mostly default valus, especially on the dhcp options. And I hope those would work. > > Caching DNS server: > > domain-needed > bogus-priv > listen-address=192.168.16.1 > listen-address=192.168.16.2 > cache-size=1000 > > Typical site deployment with DHCP and DNS (used as a forwarder for > internal A/D integrated DNS servers): > > domain-needed > bogus-priv > resolv-file=/etc/dhcpc/resolv.conf > no-resolv > no-poll > server=208.67.222.222 > server=208.67.220.220 > except-interface=eth0 > domain=REDACTED.local > dhcp-range=192.168.54.50,192.168.54.254,200h > dhcp-option=1,255.255.255.0 > dhcp-option=3,192.168.54.1 > dhcp-option=6,192.168.54.1 > dhcp-option=28,192.168.54.255 > dhcp-authoritative > cache-size=150 > You may have a point in the dhcp authoritative parameter as this shortens the time to wait for a reply. cheers ET ------------------------------------------------------------------------ leaf-user mailing list: [email protected] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/leaf-user Support Request -- http://leaf-project.org/
