Yes I did run some tests to verify that the Leaf team had repaired
something that had broken, but I didn't look at the issue Graziano mentions
(webconf not asking for credentials). I just checked, and discovered that
when I login to Leaf using webconf, indeed I am not asked for credentials.

Alas, I am leaving for a three week trip (back June 11), so I can't look
into this more now. When I get back I will read any discussion on the list
and install new versions (if any), and test more thoroughly.
