Why change from syslog-ng to rsyslog?

I've just moved to 7.0.2 from a series 6 and I suddenly find my logging setup is no more. Why was the change made? The main reason for upgrading was to test out using nftables instead of iptables, and I have managed to build nftables 0.9.8 to work with 7.0.2 (had to upgrade libnftnl to 1.1.9 too). Looks like I'll have to regress to the previous version until I can translate my syslog-ng setup into rsyslog.
