I was too hasty in making my assessment of the signal dropout problem. It
is still dropping out after 5-10 minutes even with a strong signal/strong
link. The firmware upgrade appears not to have made a significant
difference.

Again, both the AP and laptop are running Teletronics 200mW cards with
ver.1.56 firmware. Using iwconfig reveals the following:

lo no wireless extensions.

eth0 no wireless extensions.

netcs0 IEEE 802.11-DS ESSID:"fpcwireless" Nickname:"fpcwireless1"
          Mode:Master Frequency:2.462GHz Access Point: 00:02:6F:05:59:2F
          Bit Rate=2Mb/s Tx-Power=24 dBm Sensitivity=1/3
          Retry min limit:8 RTS thr:off Fragment thr:off
          Encryption key:####-####-## Encryption mode:restricted
          Power Management:off
          Link Quality:0 Signal level:0 Noise level:0
Rx invalid nwid:0 Rx invalid crypt:0 Rx invalid frag:0
          Tx excessive retries:33 Invalid misc:26 Missed beacon:0

Suggestions?
