[ANNOUNCE] Linux From Scratch 11.0-rc2 Released

The Linux From Scratch community announces the release of LFS Version 
11.0-rc2. It is a preliminary release of LFS-11.0.

This version of the Linux From Scratch has been released due to a 
critical security vulnerability discovered in glibc, as shipped in LFS 
11.0-rc1. A simple sed has been added to glibc in Chapter 8 to fix this. 
However, usage of existing LFS 11.0-rc1 systems is deemed unsafe and 
insecure.

This version of the Linux From Scratch book has changed from a 
split-/usr to a merged-/usr configuration. This brings LFS into a 
similar configuration to most recent distributions. This is a major 
change and will require users to rebuild their systems.

Major changes include toolchain updates to binutils-2.37 and glibc-2.34. 
In total, 38 packages were updated since the last release. Changes to 
the text have also been made throughout the book. The Linux kernel has 
also been updated to version 5.13.10.

In addition, the Linux From Scratch website has been redone, and the 
source code management system has moved from SVN to GIT. The website now 
has links to the Linux From Scratch Editor's Guide [4], and also to the 
Linux From Scratch Museum [5], where you can view older versions of LFS 
and BLFS for historical purposes.

We encourage all users to read through this release of the book and test 
the instructions so that we can make the final release as good as possible.

In coordination with this release, a new version of LFS using the 
systemd package is also being released. This package implements the 
newer systemd style of system initialization and control and is 
consistent with LFS in most packages.
