The configuration seems ok, but you should not be using sudo for running make...
Once you have run make with sudo, everything in /mnt/lfs is owned by root. So I
suggest you remove everything in /mnt/lfs (except possibly lost+found), and then
you run make (as you did, but without sudo). jhalfs takes care of permissions.
