Hi,

I unsuccessfully attempted jhalfs in an aarch64 docker container on Apple
Silicon M1.
For the previous work, I was only able to find a reference to lfs on Apple
Silicon in
https://lists.linuxfromscratch.org/sympa/arc/lfs-support/2022-07/msg00001.html
but no further discussions, and also some reddit statements.

My notes from the jhalfs process are at
https://github.com/marcindulak/jhalfs-ci/issues/1.
Please comment on github, or directly on this forum on specific points.

Based on the notes, my tentative conclusions are as follows, please guide me:

1. In order to build on aarch64, I need a way to force jhalfs to use
$LFS/usr/lib (or $LFS/usr/lib64) consistently. How to achieve that?

2. Is BIOS boot feasible with qemu-system-aarch64 on Apple Silicon and
https://wiki.qemu.org/Documentation/TCG,
or do I need to switch to UEFI
https://www.linuxfromscratch.org/blfs/view/svn/postlfs/filesystems.html?
My plan was to attempt the build and test the resutling image unattended on a
system without hardware virtualization
with tcg. If that's not feasible, https://wiki.qemu.org/Features/HVF is the
second choice.
