It'd feel improper to do this and not have a ticket to match.
The plan has been for a couple months to add Wayfire into BLFS for lxqt-
wayland-session, in order to get around having to use kwin as the Wayland
compositor. LXQt-WL-S can use various compositors instead of kwin, like
Hyprland, Wayfire, labwc, and others. And I believe if there is a
configuration that exists, any compositor can be used like Mango.
Out of all the compositors that have an LXQt configuration, Wayfire is the
most minimal.
However, this addition will pull in various packages:
- seatd
- libliftoff
- ~~xcb-util-errors~~
- wlroots
- ~~nlohmann-json~~
- ~~yyjson~~
- ~~wf-config~~ (decided against, will be downloaded during build)
- Wayfire
- wayfire-plugins-extra
Anything crossed out is staged to be pushed or has already been pushed
into `trunk`.
All of these are in SLFS currently, so only some slight adaption is needed
for them to feel right at home.
Being honest, I don't want to add Wayfire in particular and would rather
put in Mango to avoid having to put in nlohmann-json and yyjson, but we'd
need to make our own configuration. I can do that at some point. Perhaps I
could do that now and put in Mango instead, but Wayfire has more
functionality.
Another issue is the configurations use swaybg for setting the wallpaper.
We will need to find an alternative to use. wbg works pretty great but
it's an SLFS package.
It's planned for Wayfire to enter where x/installing is. We'd have to
rename some things, and I plan to make things more comprehensive.
I already have a gameplan to do this, just need the time to do it. Should
get started on soon.
Lastly, I will maintain all of those packages.
