I installed the most recent versions of KF6, Plasma and almost all of 
KDE-gear a few days ago. I did NOT install kio-extras because it needed 
a few dependencies and I was lazy.


I can confirm that of the three listed reasons for adding kio-extras, 
the first, khelpcenter/info pages is still valid. They do not display 
for me. The third, exchanging data with smartphones, is also still valid.


The second, thumbnails of wallpaper is no longer the case. Wallpaper has 
now been moved into the main System Settings app and thumbnails view 
fine there.


Here's my notes from the previous version (same major and minor 
versions), where I did install kio-extras:

###kio-extras-24.08.0.tar.xz
##needs KDSoap 
(https://github.com/KDAB/KDSoap/releases/tag/kdsoap-2.2.0) Release 
doesn't work. Use git clone, git submodule update --init --recursive.
##needs KDSoapWSDiscoveryClient 
(https://github.com/KDE/kdsoap-ws-discovery-client)
##needs PlasmaActivities, several optional deps (Samba, libssh with SFTP 
support, libmtp, libIMobileDevice, PList, OpenEXR, libappimage)
