So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!

Now that my font analysis and comparison website has been archived
at https://typosetting.linuxfromscratch.org I'm just about done.

1. I hope to be around for a few days if there are problems with
   that website (e.g. missing files). I'm currently getting some
   posts from the texlive list. If you have not looked at the
   previous site recently, everythng (except some C or C++ code
   which I copied and is licensed under GPL2 or GPL3) is now
   under the MIT License, so you should be able to copy and
   adapt anything which is useful to you.

2. I obviously bit off a lot more than I could chew in the last
   year. To update my 'fonts' machine (Zen1, but masses of RAM)
   I cross-built for Zen1 on my Zen2 machine.  That went fairly
   well, although transferring the build logs got screwed up.

   After that, among other things I looked at xfce for xwayland
   and during that I had a lot of changes which I never committed
   because I did not like the results.  Meanwhile, for the fonts
   machine I concentrated on revising the fonts website and my
   many working files.

   Later, building 12.3 I seem to have severely screwed things
   up (successful builds on three machines, but the build order
   seems to have become corrupted - LLVM some time after the
   SPIRV LLVM stuff).

   Also, I used to be able to build a chunk of BLFS in chroot,
   and then after booting I could go back to chroot.  Now, I
   am unable to umount /mnt/lfs and forced rebbot causes a lot
   of filesystem damage (missing files).  Unfortunately, the
   things I rely on for a fresh system use a series of scripts
   which do not lend themselves to converting to individual
   items.

   The result is that on my font machine I am unable to build
   a usable 12.3 system.

   Summary: if you use your own scripts, you *really* need to
   build LFS-dev and BLFS-dev frequently, to keep abreast of
   the changes. That, of course, is a big amount of time for
   most people.

3. So, I'll be out of here in the next few days. I'd like
   to thank everyone who has assisted or critiqued what I've
   done here over the years.

4. Finally, although in BLFS I have correctly moved to an
   ex-editor in the credits, at https://www.linuxfromscratch.org
   I am still listed as an editor.  I think that is probably
   in the www2 repo, but I no-longer know where that is.
