Updating systemd to 257.8 prior to 12.4-rc1

Hi folks,

I'm a bit wrapped up in other LFS-related projects/tickets at the 
moment, but I wanted to bring up the possibility of updating systemd to 
257.8 prior to releasing -rc1. There are several bugfixes in there which 
might be useful, including some which fix issues with link-local 
addressing, a socket related problem with Linux-6.16, mDNS problems in 
systemd-resolved, and a bugfix for a bug in udev (which would impact 
both SysV and systemd) that occurs when repartitioning a NVMe disk. In 
addition, it includes a newer hardware database.

We still are waiting on Linux 6.16.1 (and for me to finish adding fwupd 
to BLFS and a couple of other tickets) before -rc1, but I wanted to 
bring this up now. I also have a patch for glibc to test which fixes a 
regression that appears when using Valgrind. We are waiting for Linux 
6.16.1 to fix a nasty security vulnerability with cache problems on AMD 
CPUs.

What do you think about updating systemd?
