It may be possible to use the github version:
https://github.com/richardcochran/libdaemon/archive/refs/tags/v0.14.tar.gz
(changing the url so that libdaemon-0.14 is downloaded, not v0.14).

I guess it would need autoconf, and maybe a few sed's to be compatible
with recebt autotools.

Note that libdaemon is a strong dependency of blocaled, which is needed
for running GNOME on SysV. I suppose the libdaemon code is also
somewhere in systemd, and could be extracted (or not) from systemd.

In any case, filing a ticket.
