libxml2 does not build Python bindings?

Apparently the libxml2 package doesn't build its Python bindings as itstool
complains about it:

"configure: error: Python module libxml2 is needed to run this package"

Maybe there's a flag missing from ./configure (the --with-python one, although
I see it's enabled by default)? Building the package with Meson using the -D
python=enabled and -D icu=enabled flags installs the bindings.
