We have referenced the FHS in LFS for a long time. We currently reference (LFS Preface - LFS and Standards) and try to follow https://refspecs.linuxfoundation.org/FHS_3.0/fhs/index.html, but that is 10 years old. There is a new effort at https://specifications.freedesktop.org/fhs/latest/ to update the standard. I'm not sure if this is a final product or a work in progress because both say the version is 3.0.
