That might be worth putting into an LFS style guide.

Might even be "fun" to track how long it takes for the single-quote 
count to overtake the doubles, although the singles are clearly coming
from a long way back!

The obvious benefit is "consistency".

Some people value consistency: some don't.

Some projects recommend a formatting/style be checked/applied before
commits are accepted: some don't.


I'd suggest that folk, capable of using 'git blame' for non-trivial
reasons, are probably more than capable of checking out the commit 
before any repo-wide change was made and running 'git blame' against
that commit, or similar.

And of course, if you make your repo-wide changes using an Author
string that clearly differentiates style changes from "of benefit"
ones, then everyone can see what happened. 

Anyroad, the inconsistency caught me out - until I realsed what I
had been missing - so I thought to flag it up on here.
