Hello Tim,

Welcome back.  I am sorry to hear about your professional situation, I 
hope things have/are working out for you regarding employment.

I too was disappointed by the decision to drop SysV init due to GNOME 
and KDE requiring SystemD.  Personally, I don't use either desktop 
environment, but as GNU/Linux is about freedom of choice, I appreciate 
their existence.

I will keeping using OpenRC, Wayland, Swaywm, Foot and all my tty based 
apps, which I build from the install scripts of SysV LFS/BLFS and other 
community based distros.  I also keep a watch on the progress of 
GNU/Hurd, due to the continued commercialisation of SystemD/Linux, and 
hope one day it will be a viable alternative.  I like the possibility of 
open hardware platforms based on the RISC-V ISA.

Keep up the great work as an LFS/BLFS editor and providing an 
alternative build path for GNU/Linux users.
