I think that bug is still there in the 6.7 series. On my end, I usually boot 
to a clean session, so I don't usually run into it. I think I heard them 
mention somewhere that wayland stuff takes a bit to develop because it depends 
on pushing plasma wayland protocol releases, which in turn sometimes depend on 
tooling that won't land until another qt version is released. Makes it odd for 
them to so aggressively push to try going wayland-only with 6.8 in october, 
since I don't think qt-6.12 is due until november. 

But the important point is it builds, at least.
