Sad news indeed.  Obviously he passed away just a couple of weeks after
his good-bye post on blfs-dev ("So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish!").
 His condition must have been more serious than his writing suggested.

I noticed and very much appreciated that he was always there when
someone asked for support, providing help in a friendly and patient
manner.  I also liked and miss his somewhat off-kilter humour and the
likewise signatures he used - although I could not always decipher them.
 One of the good guys is gone, I feel.  May he rest in peace and always
have enough fish!
