 It *might* be intentional if the developer intends to reuse a pointer
 field to store an error code and they have a way to distinguish if the
 field contains a pointer or an error code.  But even if it's correct we
 still need to review such a suspicious thing carefully and adapt it for
 GCC >= 14 (instead of using the big `-fpermissive` hammer).
