Re: building an LFS/BLFS system using porg

Step 1:

So, after installing xz, do this (as root):

mkdir /mnt/lfs/var/log/porg
ln -sv /mnt/lfs/var/log/porg /var/log/porg

Unpack porg and cd to directory as usual, then (as lfs)

./configure --prefix=/tools --disable-grop
make
make install

Then, edit the /tools/etc/porgrc file to exclude /sources

Step 2:

After creating all of the standard directories, links, and
configuration files, exit chroot and tar the root directory as
lfs-7.6-rootdir.tgz:

cd $LFS
tar -vzcf $LFS/sources/lfs-7.6-rootdir.tgz .

Re-enter chroot, then extract using porg to create your first porg log file:

porg -lp lfs-7.6 "tar -vzxf sources/lfs-7.6-rootdir.tgz"

This package will be used to log any lfs-7.6 unique files that are created.

Continue through LFS creating porg log files for all of the included
packages.  Every file permanently created on the system should now
belong to a porg log file.  You can test any file to see where it was
logged as follows:

porg -q <complete path to file>

Step 3:

Before deleting the tools directory:

./configure --prefix=/usr --sysconfdir=/etc --disable-grop
make
porg -lD "make install"

to make it permanent before going on to build BLFS.

Once again, exclude /sources in /etc/porgrc

You can then edit your ./bashrc file as described in
etc/bash_completion.d/porg_bash_completion
