I have used symantec's site as source of info about worms and malware that 
could affect Linux users/servers. To maintain a firm grasp on the happenings 
out there it is worth taking a look there once per day. Doesn't hurt but yes, 
it is not Linux specific.

Mainly I use them for possible articles and stuff of interest (Gerard's recent 
article published at one of them is an example) that aren't available at 
mailing lists (at least I think so) but it is true that they offer little 
security stuff of either minor importance or simply stale.
