Hi Michele,

As Joe pointed out we could definitely use some more information, but
here's a couple things that I would try to see if it fixes the problem
based on the kernel stack trace that you've given us:

First I would try upgrading the kernel to see if it resolves the
problem. If this doesn't fix it, see below:

However, your HP 240 G8 is going to have Intel Iris Xe graphics in it. I
would recommend trying to turn on CONFIG_DRM_XE to see if that works if
upgrading your kernel doesn't fix it. The driver is experimental, but is
supposed to offer better support for those GPUs. Note that the driver
will only build as a module, so you will likely need an initramfs.

I noticed that you're on the initial BIOS release for that particular
model as well, so I decided to look at other patches that are available
for that. This would be kind of a last resort, but the current is F.80
and you're on F.10 (which came out in 2020, the recent one came out in
November of 2024). One of the updates mentions system stability, and
looking into what other vendors have, that BIOS update shows
improvements to the Video BIOS for the integrated graphics installed on
the 11th-generation Intel CPUs.
