Sorry, Nick, I didn't know about your handicap. Clearly, screenshot are
anything but helpful in this case. But I have an idea what the problem
might be and how to solve it. If I'm right, there would be two solutions:

Solution one: after you have "down-arrowed" to the end, do not start
typing but hit "enter" to create a newline and only then start typing.
By the way: instead of using the down-key to get to the end of the post,
it would be easier and faster to use the key-combination "control" plus
"end". Again, do not start typing immediately after that but hit
"enter" before you type.

Solution two: this would be the usual way via the Thunderbird-settings
for your email-account. If you can get to them (via "Edit/Mail and
Newsgrops Account Settings"), go to "Composition and Addressing". Then
activate check-box "Automatically quote the original message when
replying" and choose "start my reply below the quote" in the drop down
field "When quoting". Go to "OK" and hit "enter". I don't know whether
this is possible for you but I thought I'd better mention it anyway.

I hope this helps and that you keep enjoying your LFS/BLFS adventure!

Rainer

Your reply starts below the previous post. That's OK. But perhaps you
do not go down far enough to the last line and start your reply one line
above that line
