And IIRC: it's been discussed only _once_ before on "support" this year.

Firstly: I haven't started this thread.  So you're barking up the wrong
tree anyway here.  For whatever reason.

Secondly: the OP suggested a way how to mitigate the impact of a serious
and ongoing problem on LFS/BLFS-users.  That's positive and constructive
and shows that the OP cares about other users and this project.  Is that
 a problem for you?  I for one would be happy about such contributions
and rather *en*courage them instead of trying to *dis*courage them.  Or
do you think that this project suffers from too many users or contributors?

Thirdly: the "Note" in the _development_-version is rather new, it's
been added only about 8 weeks ago.  The problem that it addresses has
been existing for over year now.  Apart from that: do you really expect
that users now also scour the development-versions for the latest
changes - in addition to searching the mailing-lists?

Fourthly: a user who - to my knowledge - had never before posted on this
or other lfs/blfs-lists and never made a contribution of any sort, all
of a sudden shows up and complains that one or two posts on a low-volume
mailing-list would "pollute" his inbox?  Seriously?

I'm really close to being fed up to the back teeth with this.
