Hello folks,

This is a bit of a challenging email for me personally at least to 
write, as I was friends with Ken for many years from private mails.

Ken Moffat joined the LFS project somewhere around February 2004. His 
first contribution back then was to fontconfig, where the font 
directories were incorrect. The first release he was mentioned in was 
BLFS 5.1-pre1. He was with the LFS project as an editor until last year, 
when he stepped down due to health reasons. His last request of us was 
to archive his font website, which is something he was very passionate 
about.

Ken did a lot for us over the 21 years that he was an editor, including 
significant contributions to security, TeXLive, command line mail 
utilities, and the Mozilla products, which he maintained in BLFS for 
many many years. Ken was also the editor who developed the security 
advisories that most users use today, and who encouraged me to continue 
maintaining them and to continue my studies into security. Since he 
stepped down last year, he had requested that I take over TexLive for 
BLFS and gave me a bunch of knowledge transfer information to keep that 
maintain. For as long as I am an editor, I will continue to do so, and 
support mutt and fetchmail as well.

We recently discovered that Ken passed away on June 24th, 2025. He will 
be missed, and may he rest in peace...

In honor of Ken, I would like to request that we edit the 
book/dedication.xml in LFS, BLFS, and our other projects for the 13.0 
release to dedicate them to Ken Moffat. If possible, I would also like 
to request a mention of Ken in the release announcements.
