This is a multi-part message in MIME format... ------------=_1774951211-1253-19880 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7BIT Content-length: 872 Dear all, While installing tools from chapter 8 , I stumbled on an error in test which wasn't referenced in the book and do not appear in the reference log. In section 8.53. Python-3.14.3, the test_urlib2 and .test_urllibnet fails, because they can't resolve the host name 'www.pythontest.net'. And indeed, in chroot environment, I can't ping by host names, only by ip. I managed to bypass this test by adding www.pythontest.net to hosts, after which these tests passes on second pass. But I'm still unsure, should the system at this stage be able to resolve host names or not: On one side, no mention of this error in book, and no error reported in reference logs On other side, in the same chapter, when discussing pip, book states: "Since domain name resolution is not yet configured". So should I carry on, or go back and reinstall inetutils? Thanks in advance ------------=_1774951211-1253-19880 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="UTF-8" Content-Disposition: inline Content-Transfer-Encoding: 8bit MIME-Version: 1.0 -- http://lists.linuxfromscratch.org/sympa/info/lfs-support Unsubscribe: See the above information page ------------=_1774951211-1253-19880--
