after a bit of code review I think this could be the right for loop
to fix putenv():

int putenv(const char *string) {
...
  for (i=3Denvc=3D0, ep[i]; ep[i]; ++i) {
    if (*string =3D=3D ep[i][0] &&
	!memcmp(string,ep[i],len) &&
	ep[i][len]=3D=3D'=3D') {
      if (remove) continue;
      ep[envc++]=3Dstring;
      remove=3D1;		// remove dupes
    } else
      ep[envc++]=3Dep[i];
  }
...
