James A couple of things: - For usb cards, the -pre26 driver is actually now quite old. Many changes have occurred in the development tree which greatly improve reliability with usb prism based cards. I would recommend searching the announce or devel archives for how to get svn access, and checking out the latest tree from svn (1739 I think), which hopefully will soon be officially released (but has been 'real soon now' for quite some time). - The key line in your log is the dreaded hfa384x_docmd: ctlx failure=REQ_TIMEOUT often you can work around this by editing scripts (perhaps in /etc/wlan, depends on distro) to call wlanctl-ng ifstate=enable twice, or inserting a sleep etc. Trawling the archives of this alias can help, but exact edits depends on your distro and the scripts it provides.
