Passive scan mode

How do I enable passive scan mode?  In the code I've
seen how a requested scan can be passive or active but
I want to tell the chip to only do passive scans.

I've even hard coded it in prism2sta_globalsetup():

  UINT16      word = host2hfa384x_16(100);
  hfa384x_t    *hw = (hfa384x_t *)wlandev->priv;
[...]
  result = hfa384x_drvr_setconfig16(hw,
          HFA384x_RID_CNFPASSIVESCANCTRL, word);

But I still see beacon frames coming from my station.
