On Fedora, putting "alias wlan0 prism2_usb" in mod(ules|probe).conf
turned out to be something I didn't want to do: it was the thing that
caused my card to be initialised too early, before all that nasty
probing happens. Fedora tries to initialise all the interfaces
specified in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/ifcfg* . It does this
early, in /etc/rc.sysinit . Removing the alias in mod(ules|probe).conf
stops this happening for wlan0 (though not very elegantly!) and
everything works fine without it.

HTH,

Dave
