I can't speak about your other adapter, but the USB adapter may not use
the lwlan drivers.  If it is a Rev. B, it uses rt2570.ko, the USB version
of the Ralink rt2500 driver.  Source for working (but slightly funky
driver) available at:

I think the linux-wlan site has more details about the different revisions
of this adaptor -- some use prism2, which means if you *do* have one of
those, I didn't help solve your problem any. ;)
