Hello,
I am trying to get a Linksys WUSB54G USB-to-WLAN dongle to work with my OMAP Starter Kit
(OSK)and have some problems getting the wlan0 interface up.
I have compiled the wlan-ng drivers and installed them on the target board.
When I first tried to start wlan services by running
# /etc/rc.d/init.d/wlan start
I received a message saying that the wlan0 drivers were not found.
I then added an alias under /etc/modules.conf as
alias wlan0 prism2_usb
and tried to start wlan services again.
It went past the wlan0 driver problem and is able to load the prism2_usb
driver in place of wlan0 driver.
However, as the next step when it tries to bring up the wlan0 interface,
it complains saying:
Error: Device wlan0 does not seem to be present.
Make sure you've inserted the appropriate
modules or that your modules.conf file contains
the appropriate aliase(s).
When I try to check for the wlan0 interface at the command prompt by
doing
# ifconfig wlan0
I get an error like:
ifconfig: wlan0: error fetching interface information: Device not found
I tried to bring up the wlan0 interface explicitly by saying
ifconfig wlan0 up <ip_address>
and it complains:
SIOCGIFFLAGS: No such device
SIOCSIFADDR: No such device
Could anyone tell me what I am missing out?
The kernel version I am working with is linux-2.6.12-omap-1 and the linux-wlan-ng
version is linux-wlan-ng-0.2.3
thanks in advance,
regards,
kanagesh
