WPA for prism usb?

I read some of the mailing history before posting this, but I'm sorry if
this has been done to death long ago.

I have a Zaurus 6000 PDA whose built-in wifi is a prism 802.11b usb
device, and it uses the wlan-ng drivers and utilities.

It would be really wonderful if *something* was done to allow WPA to
work. I'm told that wpa_supplicant doesn't need a full-blown hostap
interface to work, so I was wondering if anyone has even looked at the
problem?
