Why do you think you need to load firmware to the device?
I don't need to (having a DWL-122, too).
I fire up my (a little bit hacked) init.d/wlan start script (see
attached) and (mostly) it works. 
(Sometimes I have problems; I have to unplug and re-plugin the
stick in that case and try again, but in generall it works this
way.)

I have deleted /sbin/prism2dl, so that's why the error messages
at the end come up, but it works.
