I use a mini-PCI Intel 2915ABG card in a mini-PCI to PCI adaptor.

the former are GBP20 or maybe US$35 on ebay. the latter vary according
to features (number of antenna sockets, lights, etc) but are typically
GBP15 or US$25. An example would be:

I believe you can also use a PCI to cardbus adaptor and a pcmcia card,
but I have never tested this... see miniitx page

I use the patched IPW2200 driver on suse10.1, so as to enable monitor
mode, and it works fine with kismet, airodump, etc. It's mainly used at
home on my linux firewall in ad-hoc mode.
