        Right now, we have the PPC64 port for both LKCD as well as 
lkcdutils. Also, the lkcdutils that is in CVS right now, supports cross 
arch support. That is, we should be able to run LCRASH on i386 for 
analyzing PPC64 dump. Tested this on 2.6 system. See the following e-mail 
that was posted on lkcd-devel mailing list to answer Tameen question 
(posted on this list separately)".

        Please note that we have the development version in LKCD CVS (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/lkcd/2.4/). I found several bugs on lkcdutils while I was working on 2.6 port and 
these fixes are checked into CVS. However, I was not able to test these 
fixes on 2.4 system. 
Also note that the PPC64 porting effort was done on linuxppc64.org kernel. 
Hence, the steps to follow to apply LKCD patches:
1. Get the 2.4.21 kernel from linuxppc64.org
2. Apply ppckernel_lkcd.patch (http://cvs.sourceforge.net/viewcvs.py/lkcd/2.4/patches/)
3. Copy all files from lkcd/2.4

LKCD  for the PowerPC is easy, assuming your target system has sufficient 
disk/flash storage to store the dump file. If there isn't sufficient 
storage,  then you have to figure out where you are going to store the 
dump file. You  might want to consider netdump or MCORE instead of LKCD 
for this. Support for  the PowerPC in the analysis tool that you feed the 
dump file to is harder  to come by. To my knowledge, there is no PowerPC 
port for lcrash. There are  PowerPC ports of crash floating around, but it 
is sort of an orphan port since  its original maintainer changed jobs and 
whether it will work for you  will depend on which version of PowerPC you 
are using and whether you want to  debug code in installable modules or 
not.
 
I had  downloaded a PPC version of crash from:

a few months ago and had some success with it at least with PPC405 
processors, though I had to twiddle the code a little to get it to work. 
This  link still seems to work. The trick was to build and execute it on a 
linux based  Macintosh G3 since the make doesn't seem to include support 
for cross  analysis.
 
I've  recently managed to get an x86-cross-powerpc port of crash that we 
obtained from  Montavista to sort of work on the PPC405 and PPC440GP, so I 
can debug crash  dump files generated from a PPC on a linux x86 PC 
platform, but it  still has problems. The different PPC variants have 
differing addressing issues  (primarily around 32 and 64 bit physical 
address spaces, kind of like the Intel  x86 PAE stuff, and other PTE 
things) which effect how the crash  program navigates the VM page tables.
 
When  you get off of x86 targets, my experience is that none of this stuff 
is  currently very turn-key. It can be made to work, but expect to 
invest considerable time into it.
