Hello,

I have just seen you update the dump_netdevice.c file and the line
"netpoll_set_trap(1);" solves the last problem I said. Now, the Netpoll
answer to the server if it send a ARP paquet.

I do not understand all numbers like the total page number, the number
of pages saved and the number of the memory packet.

Thank you for your attention,

Regards

Hello,

I have some questions about netdump.

Why do you write reply.info=page_counter in dump_netdev.c in the
COMM_GET_NR_PAGES case ? Because page_counter is never used ?!

I have an other question : netdump-server must be run as root or user
with write privileges to NETDUMP_DIR_PREFIX. But if you do not run
netdump-server as root, it would not be able to set the ARP entry for
the client, and after one minute, the server would not be able to send
messages to it.

A solution may be to trap arp messages on the client with another
netpoll and to respond to the server, so the automatic refresh of the
ARP table will work. And we do not have to modify the server
configuration (I think running netdump-server as root is not very
secured).

If you agree, I can try to write a patch to resolve this problem with
this methods.

An other suggestion : the netdump only send memory, and not System.map
et kerntypes.o files whose are necessary to analyse the dump. I wrote a
little program which send those files to the server when the system
reboot.

Regards

Benoit Welterlen
